RED TAILS New film about the Tuskegee Airmen opens January 20th!

"Courage Has No Color"
(BAB) - The internet is abuzz with preview trailers and talk about the new film RED TAILS, a film that tells the exciting and important story of The Tuskegee Airmen, produced by Star Wars producer, George Lucas and Lucasfilms. This film is creating conversations about not only the content of the story but about the controversy of how difficult it was to get made by one of Hollywood's top producers, George Lucas of Lucasfilm.
This is a story that has been told and passed down by many of our grandfathers and fathers; a story that was recently presented in a HBO film, but now it is coming to the big screen live and living color on January 20, 2012.

I plan to take a look and encourage us all to support the film by bringing some young people to see it and to discuss the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. My interest stems from the stories I heard while growing up... about the Tuskegee Airmen, a very unique and powerful fighting force in Europe in WWII.
At one of the more recent Veteran's Day Parades in Bronzeville that I have covered on this blog, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet one of the original Tuskegee airmen, named James J McCastle. His stories about the airmen were fascinating.

RED TAILS MOVIE TRAILER. YEAH!!!
"The movie focuses on the first black pilots in the our Air Force prepared to protect our position in Europe during WW II. This movie will make you laugh, cry, and feel proud of our heritage and our men. The Tuskegee Airmen were black heroes, trailblazers, and proud, strong men. It is the perfect story to add to our children's awareness of what a real hero can do." - Source Laurel Straford - What The Traveler Saw - after viewing a preview of the movie.
The movie was produced by George Lucas (producer of Star Wars, Indiana Jones) and directed by Anthony Hemingway (also the director for the HBO's 'The Wire' and 'Treme). Red Tails is based on fact. The cast includes Terrance Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Ne-Yo, Nate Parker with a sound track by Terence Blanchard. "

George Lucas spoke candidly about how difficult it was to get the film done in Hollywood on the Daily Show.
This is a film that Lucas says it took him 23 years to get done due to the underlying lack of confidence that the film would be profitable.
Why? " Because it is an all Black action movie with no major white actors."
Well, here's an opportunity to prove the nay sayers wrong!
Take a look at this powerful interview!!
George Lucas Talks About the Difficulty of Getting A Black Film Made in Hollywood: Lucas, who is one of Hollywood’s biggest names, says that even he (despite his influence) had a difficult time trying to get 'Red Tails' made.
Let's check the film out on January 20th!
